When Allpress Espresso decided to expand their Christchurch operation, they wanted a building that was interesting and a little different.

Retaining the authenticity of the building was essential in its re-use as a cafe, becoming an exemplar of sustainability. While some of the surrounding buildings are new and some have been modernised, this building remains firmly rooted within the light industrial streetscape and stands proudly right on the edge of the pavement.

The original Summerhill Stone is retained as a feature of the facade and has been carried through to its interior. The joinery combines commercial functionality with understated style.

Overall the interior is soft and harmonious. It's subtle, allowing the focus of the space to be on coffee and people in a refreshing environment.

The front of shop is linked by glass doors and windows to the back area which contains a warehouse & distribution hub with an office and toilet included.
